Prosecutors are becoming increasingly more political. This article explores the problems with the politicization of prosecutors by focusing on three examples of their increased politicization: (1) the U.S. firing scandal of 2007, (2) the recent firing of Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, and (3) the increased use of social media by prosecutors to share their political leanings and views regarding particular cases. This article suggests steps we can and should take to keep prosecutors in their role as independent, objective ministers of justice.
