Maybe it’s more fair to say the firm “announced” a Cravath match, because this news is almost a month old at this point. It says a lot about how this current crop of associates see bonuses as a fait accompli that a timely match isn’t even seen as news.
A Dechert tipster just noticed the firm still lived on our “naughty list” of firms that haven’t announced bonuses and pointed out that the firm not only has matched, but did so mere days after Cravath set the scale:
Dechert LLP announced Cravath scale bonuses on 11/28 and sent individual attorney bonus confirmations on 12/14. As in the past, we receive bonuses on the first pay period of the new year.
Working in Biglaw is one of those rare endeavors where dull predictability is a virtue. A firm that acts quickly to assure its associates that they’ll be compensated in line with the market is something to be celebrated. Congrats to the Dechert folks.
