Rudy Giuliani Is A Non-Stop Gaffe Machine And It’s Truly A Sight To Behold

At this point, anyone calling Rudy Giuliani an “accomplished” or “great” lawyer sounds just as silly as those network sports dweebs who used to gloss over the millionth backbreaking Brett Favre error in a game with “he’s just a riverboat gambler taking risks out there.” No, he’s a walking interception machine whose physical skills can no longer cover up poor decision making.

Like those late career Favre apologists, those who try to fluff Giuliani by claiming the president’s most vocal attorney is some kind of legal genius only undermine their own credibility. Giuliani is an interception machine that people can’t help but forgive by dismissing his gaffes as “boldness.” It’s not. He really has no clue what he’s doing half the time and it’s killing his client.

Witness Giuliani’s latest brilliant tactical move, radically reversing course and saying the Trump campaign might have colluded with Russia.

Give this man his Superlawyers plaque!

The admission came during a CNN appearance where Chris Cuomo pointed out that Giuliani’s denials about collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign become less and less credible every day. Giuliani responded by declaring “I never said there was no collusion between the campaign, or between people in the campaign.”

“Oh Kent, I’d be lying if I said my men weren’t committing crimes…”

How did Giuliani — the “accomplished” and “great” lawyer get so bad at his only job? Part of the problem is he was never really that good to begin with. It may be cliché to say that prosecutors can indict a ham sandwich — providing, of course, the ham sandwich isn’t a cop who murdered a black child — but it’s cliché because it rings true. Giuliani earned his credibility by using the can’t miss power of a federal prosecutor to prosecute crimes. His greatness never amounted to more than aggressive self-promotion for doing the bare minimum of his job description. Law firms don’t unceremoniously dump guys they don’t consider dead weight.

The only thing more amazing than Giuliani’s propensity to disastrously implode is Trump’s commitment to keeping the guy employed. This is the same Giuliani who nearly torpedoed Trump’s Muslim Ban by pointing out that it was, in fact, a Muslim Ban. Every time he speaks on behalf of the president he erodes Trump’s already tenuous defense. It would be hard to be a worse advocate without being a covert operative.

But seeing his prior attempts at disguise, I’m doubtful he could pull that off.
