This Biglaw Firm’s Getting Behind A Presidential Candidate

Biglaw firms love supporting alumni. When they hire a class of associates, they know not all 100+ of them will be at the firm in 8 years when they’re forced to make partnership decisions. So it makes sense that firms want to keep tabs on alums, particularly as they go on to work in-house, at boutique or have otherwise influential post-Biglaw careers.

Speaking of Biglaw alumna, Davis Polk is leaning into their ties with Kirsten Gillibrand. The New York senator worked at Davis Polk in the 90s as an associate. Now that she’s officially declared her candidacy for president and defining her position on campaign finance reform by rejecting support from individual super PACS,  the 2020 election, she’s appearing at an event at the New York offices of Davis Polk for a discussion on the “current state of politics and her thoughts about 2020.”

It seems like a great event for Davis Polk attorneys, and it is explicitly not a fundraising event. The only downside for politically minded associates seems to be the 8:15 a.m. start time.
